7.  Secretariat Records transferred from the Tamil Nadu Archives, Madras, to Andhra Pradesh State Archives

           The records relating to the Andhra State covering the period  from 1953-56, and the records of Andhra Pradesh up to 1959 are received and preserved in the State Archives. All records of the Secretariat Departments and Board of Revenue are due for retirement to the State Achieves after they are five and ten years old  respectively. This is the  archival retirement principle being followed in this State today. 

            As the Government was established  the departments to run the administration of their States, some times the departments were merged and separated as per the convenience for smooth functioning of the administration. The following brief write up on the departments of records transferred from the Tamil Nadu Archives, Madras, to Andhra Pradesh State Archives clearly states, the administrators. The 15 departments in existence during Madras Presidency, the Madras State Government and their setup and subjects dealt by each departments with statistical data are given below.
