14. PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

            The Public Works was created in the year 1843. The records cover the period from 1857 – 1952 and supply the information to Accounts – Expenditure on Contracts, construction, maintenance of roads, buildings, bridges, house sites for depressed class, construction of canals, improvement of Railway, Construction and laying of new Railway lines and extensions.
