20. CARTOGRAPHY
A Map unit was sent up in the year 1970 to acquire and conserve maps and cartographical material of historical importance. The cell has acquired several hundred historical and geographical maps, plans and topographical maps, etc., of the cities and towns in the Erstwhile Hyderabad State and Madras Presidency which are arranged geographically on Map-Stands provided for the purpose. A catalogue of the Map collection and cartographic records of the State Archives is under preparation. This will be a valuable reference aid. The advice of the Survey if India is being sought on all aspects of the working of the Map unit.
